I'm Tired
This is Day 29 of my 40 day Lenten Blog.
I'm tired. I feel beat down. Exhausted by life.
But life doesn't just give us physical exhaustion or mental exhaustion. Life gives us spiritual exhaustion, too. In fact physical and mental exhaustion feeds into spiritual exhaustion. And when you are spiritually exhausted it can manifest itself as physical and mental exhaustion.
That is why we cannot simply refresh ourselves by resting our bodies or resting our minds. We have to rest our souls, too. How?
Jesus tells us to "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls." (Matt 11:29).
Spend time with Jesus and it will refresh you. Don't just relax watching Netflix or whatever it is you do to rest. Turn off your TV and phone and sit with Christ. Read a verse from the Bible and meditate on it. Listen to beautiful Christian music and really listen to it. Pay attention to the lyrics and pray them. Go spend some time at adoration. Pray. Pray for strength. Pray your worries at Jesus' feet. And perhaps most importantly relinquish control (more on this one tomorrow). Take Christ's yoke and let Him lead you.
