I Shall Not want

This is Day 32 of my 40 day Lenten Blog.

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want." (Psalm 23:1)

When the Lord is your shepherd He knows you intimately. He cares for you. He helps you. You will not want.

Does this mean you will get everything you desire? Of course not, because what we desire is not always best for us. The shepherd knows what is best for His sheep.

A sheep may think it is best to wander away from the flock to some grass that looks greener on the other side of the hill, but the shepherd knows that there are wolves waiting to pounce on that sheep and devour it.

God knows His sheep and His sheep know Him. He knows our needs better than we do ourselves. He will lead us to green pastures and cool water, even though sometimes we might have to walk over barren, rocky ground to get there. If we stay close to Him He will fend off the wolves and He will bless us more than we can ever imagine.
